‘Getting Nuttier…’

“During a technical briefing held in Ottawa on Bill C-69, senior government officials said ‘indigenous’ {aboriginal} knowledge will be treated with weight equal to other information {?!?} during the assessment of a project… Ottawa is also pledging to increase financial support for ‘indigenous’ {aboriginal} communities to engage in the process {Of course}…

“The proposed bill, if passed, would replace the National Energy Board with the Impact Assessment Agency, which will lead reviews of all major projects like dams, pipelines and mines. The new agency is expected to bolster consultation with ‘indigenous’ {aboriginal} communities as part of an expanded scope that will also factor in social and economic impact…

“The proposed changes would include the creation of an ‘Indigenous’ {aboriginal} Advisory Committee and require the appointment of an expert on ‘Indigenous’ {aboriginal} rights as a board member and commissioner of a new energy regulator called the Canadian Energy Regulator…

“Chippewas of the Thames Chief Myeengun Henry said the inclusion of ‘indigenous’ {primitive} knowledge in the federal government’s proposed bill to completely overhaul the environmental assessment process could allow {only aboriginal} communities to apply their own priorities and standards in weighing a project {What about the national interest?}

“Neskonlith Indian Band Chief Judy Wilson said

We never surrendered our title. The Crown is saying they are still taking to ‘colonial notions’ that they hold absolute Crown sovereignty {which they do – pretending otherwise is just a legal game}, which they don’t have and they still haven’t dealt with our title as a ‘nation’ {aboriginal community}.”

“Prominent Mohawk ‘policy analyst’ {race activist} Russ Diabo said the proposed bill is an improvement over the Stephen Harper-era process, but ‘indigenous’ {aboriginal} peoples are still being treated as another stakeholder on a lesser plane than the provinces {As they should be}…”

A Racism Of Intelligence’ (Science and ‘Traditional Knowledge’) {April 17, 2018}:
“Quebec deputy minister Patrick Beauchesne wrote that Ottawa’s intention to systematically place ‘indigenous’ {‘primitive’} knowledge on equal footing with scientific data
could prove problematic in cases where ‘indigenous’ knowledge and science are found to be in contradiction”.

“He said criteria should be established to evaluate the accuracy of the ‘traditional knowledge’…{Sensible fellow. So few of them left…} …When the letter recently became public, it provoked an outraged reaction from Quebec ‘indigenous’ leaders, an apology from two Quebec cabinet ministers and, this week, an accusation of racism from a University of Ottawa law professor…”

Education: Honouring the Ignorance of Our Ancestors‘ (Widdowson):
“The British Columbia government has adopted the position that science itself is only “provisional” and a ‘Eurocentric’ cultural viewpoint:
“…We are aware that our scientific knowledge is provisional and culturally-derived.”

“This is part of the new “aboriginal perspectives” that now undermine the education of all B.C. children. So, the next time you witness the effects of gravity, remember — it’s only your “cultural perspective” that makes it seem that way…”

“Two underlying assumptions can be discerned about the nature of traditional knowledge vis-a-vis science. The first is that the existence of traditional knowledge is dependent upon the undefined qualities of the person who allegedly holds it. All that is explained is that is is impossible for certain people…to have this “knowledge“. Secondly, traditional knowledge has a “world view” that is rooted in native spirituality.

“Unlike physical science, ‘Traditional knowledge’ assumes that all objects in the universe are governed by spiritual forces that cannot be seen by a ‘white man’…
This makes it incompatible with modern research, since scientific methodology attempts to verify hypotheses by using evidence that is open to evaluation.

“Scientific understanding does not rely on the alleged “spiritual qualities” of a scientist, or processes that are visible only to people of a certain racial ancestry…”
